Restaurant Insights: Promotion Assessment

A standardized, consumer-driven process, is equally as important in developing successful, limited-time-offers (LTO’s), as it is with core menu items. Our approach to identifying unique and appealing LTO’s incorporates the following components:

Evaluate the ‘platform’ or core idea of the promotion first, followed by the appeal of individual menu items that could be part of the promotion

Identify standard key measures to use across tests, including traffic draw, uniqueness vs. competitors, and fit with brand image

Incorporate diagnostic measures to identify improvement areas, including likes and dislikes of specific words and phrases (e.g. text highlighter tool)

Use TURF analysis to identify the combination of menu items that maximizes consumer reach

Use photos to help communicate the essence of the ideas

Include any previous and successful LTO’s as benchmarks for new ideas
